At Breytenbach Physiotherapy, we are committed to providing the highest standard of care within a warm and interactive environment. The road to recovery is a journey, and our dynamic and well experienced physiotherapists will guide and assist you in achieving your goals through evidence based practice and holistic patient centered care.

Breytenbach Physiotherapy was founded in 2018 by Cobus and Marisa Breytenbach. After obtaining a combined 20 years of experience in academic and clinical settings, they decided to apply their trade in Humansdorp and Jeffreys Bay.

Cobus and Marisa share a deep appreciation for travel, adventure and the outdoors, and hope to serve the Eastern Cape community with an accessible, value based and friendly approach. 

SERVICES

PHYSIOTHERAPY AND REHABILITATION

A comprehensive interview and assessment will provide the foundation for your qualified physiotherapist to design the most appropriate treatment plan specific to your condition. We understand that each individual is unique, and therefore our management strategies will be adapted to your needs.

Conditions treated include spinal pain and stiffness, sciatica, associated muscle spasm or nerve involvement; painful, stiff, swollen or sprained joints; soft tissue injuries to the muscles, tendons or ligaments; sports injuries resulting from overuse or trauma; post-operative rehabilitation; headaches and disorders of the temporo-mandibula.

Techniques used include a combination of hands-on therapy, individualized rehabilitation planning including relevant exercise, and ensuring that the client understands their condition, for maximum results.

We will employ joint mobilization to reduce pain and improve range of movement; neural gliding techniques; individualized exercises; soft tissue mobilization and massage; dry needling and electrotherapy to reduce pain and swelling; and taping to support ligaments, joints and muscles.

In addition we will give the client ergonomic advice and self-management strategies to manage and optimize recovery.

It is important to us that our clients achieve the highest possible level of independence of movement and function, and that they know how best to avoid recurrence of injury.

PILATES

With the emphasis on core muscles, Pilates will improve posture, increase flexibility and build strength.

Your body is designed to move smoothly and easily, and Pilates can help to maintain that ease. Pilates incorporates deep breathing techniques, while at the same time strengthening your core muscles. The focus is on correct form, while you determine the intensity, and every movement is adjusted to suit your individual needs.

The benefits of Pilates are well documented and includes, a noticeable improvement in posture, an ease of movement with improved balance and relief from stress and back pain.
